About Peter

Peter Feeney discussing issues with a member of National Seniors My wife Rae and I grew up in Sydney's outer west. When the ANZ Bank transferred me to Melbourne to work in their computer centre, we took one look at the Maroondah area and decided we would settle here. Now our daughter also lives and works in Maroondah and her daughter is attending school here.

After 17 years in the Information Technology Departments of firstly the ANZ Bank, and then Cadbury Schweppes,  I set up my own home-based business Innovative Systems. Despite being home-based and having no more than 5 employees Innovative Systems has provided software to computerise warehouses for some of Australia and New Zealand's largest companies including the ANZ Bank, Coles Myer, Bank of New Zealand, Air New Zealand, Mayne Logistics and Stocklink New Zealand.  We have also provided Records Management Solutions to the Public Record Office of Victoria and Brambles Records Management and Online Security in New Zealand.

It was my  role as President of Maroondah HomeBiz that first involved me in working  closely with the Council, promoting the benefits to the local community, and to the environment, of people working from home. It has also provided me with an opportunity to help train and assist people setting up or expanding their own small businesses. I found this particularly gratifying, because home-based businesses can be ideal for some of the less advantaged including single parents and, increasingly, the over 45s.
Peter Feeney addressing a Maroondah Business Breakfast
I am now President of Maroondah-Ringwood Branch of  National Seniors Australia and Chairman of the South East Victorian Zone. This group deals with the various issues affecting those over 50.  With the "baby boomers" now fast approaching retirement, these issues are assuming even greater importance. In Maroondah we have an aging society and we need to ensure that the problems of our elder citizens are not overlooked.

I have served on the committees of both the Ringwood and Croydon Chambers of Commerce, the Board of the Melbourne East Area Consultative Committee and the Ringwood Transit City Community Reference Group. I am also a member of the Maroondah Hospital Charity Golf-Day Committee.

I have never been a member of a political party and I don't think of myself as a politician.  Throughout my business career and in the numerous committees to which I belong, I am known as someone who solves problems and follows through until the job is done.
